Located in the heart of the old village of Montmartre, Basilica of style romano-byzantin dedicated to the Sacred Heart was declared of public utility by the French National Assembly in 1873 and started in 1876 within Abadie largely inspired of the church Saint Face of Périgueux from which he was the restorer. Construction is completed in 1910 thanks to public subscriptions and the basilica is devoted in 1919. The interior contains treasures of decoration: marble sculptures, stained glasses and mosaics. It stages temporary exhibitions, more specially dedicated to artists from all fields having lived in Montmartre, or having created a major part of their work there.
